As academic libraries evolve, so do the library's collections of physical resources. In recent years the library's physical collections have become more targeted in regard to particular subjects (e.g. art, design) and formats (e.g. graphic novels). Physical collections at Seminole State continue to be carefully reviewed and dated volumes removed, resulting in a more compact but relevant repository.

Metric: A tally of the year of publication for physical items held by the campus libraries.
Analysis: Most of the materials that were removed from the collection over the past few years were dated in terms of coverage, and as a result of their removal, the collection is much more current, a feature particularly appropriate for the collection at a state college (as opposed to a research university). We have now reached the a milestone of having more than 60% of holdings published in the last 20 years.

Metric: The number of initial circulations across campuses and formats.
Analysis: Reserve items continue to be the most heavily circulated type of material, which provides a particular challenge to the libraries during the current COVID pandemic, as most reserve items are not available electronically. Furthermore, the typical short loan periods for reserve items are not possible to maintain due to the potential to spread the virus through contact, thus limiting the availability of these materials.
