Although unique in their design, the four campus libraries (Altamonte, Heathrow, Oviedo, Sanford/Lake Mary) are equally important to campus operations, providing dedicated space for students to study quietly or in groups, to make inquiries, to browse and access resources, and to access computer workstations.
Metric: A tally of the number of in-person visits to each of the four physical campus libraries.
Analysis: As expected in a year where all campus libraries were closed for 3 and 1/2 months, the gate count was considerably down this year.
Metric: A tally of the usage of enclosed and reserveable study rooms at three of the four campus libraries.
Analysis: When the campus libraries were open pre-COVID, the usage of study rooms continued to be a very popular option for students, and a reflection that this study option -- unique to the library facilities on these campuses -- is still very much in demand.
Metric: Every hour at each campus library, a tally is taken of where students are located. There are actually several categories per campus -- distinguishing areas at a much more granular level than the chart below -- but for this year those categories have been assigned to one of two meta-categories, Study Spaces and Computer Labs.
Analysis: This data reveals that, mostly on a 2-to-1 ratio, students come to the campus libraries for both study space and computer access; both aspects seem to be clearly valuable to students.
