VolunteeRaiders Program

Program Overview

Purpose of VolunteeRaiders: To nurture and develop the next generation of successful college graduates by providing volunteer opportunities that promote growth, leadership, and information literacy skills, as well as familiarity and comfortability with academic environments.

VolunteeRaiders is open to

  • Dual Enrollment students 

  • 1st Generation students

  • GED students 

  • Gold Seal CAPE Scholars 

  • Current Seminole State College students 

We have curated volunteer opportunities that will

  • enable students to capitalize on and develop their individual strengths and interests

  • enable students to contribute to emerging and innovative practices in higher education

  • enable students to community-build and have a greater sense of belonging in academic environments

Opportunities currently include:

  • Event Production and Assistance
  • Content/Social Media Production 
  • Pod/Vodcast Production
  • Academic Tutoring*
  • Library Collections/Curation
  • Library Customer Service
  • Archiving COMING SOON

*Honors, IB and/or 3.75+ unweighted GPA required

 

Location and Hours

Location:

The VolunteeRaiders program is available at the Sanford/Lake Mary branch of Seminole State College of Florida Libraries, located in the UP Building at 100 Weldon Blvd, Sanford FL 32773.

 

Hours of availability:

Volunteer hours are currently available within the following days/time slots:

  • Tuesdays 10-8pm
  • Wednesdays 10-8pm
  • Sundays 1-6pm
  • Select outlier dates/times for special events

Scheduling Structure

VolunteeRaiders schedules students in cascading cohorts that each span two academic semesters:

  • Fall/Spring (student starts volunteering in fall and continues through the spring)
  • Spring/Summer (student starts volunteering in spring and continues through the summer)
  • Summer/Fall (student starts volunteering in summer and continues through the fall)

Minimum hours per semester: 50 

Max Number of Total Hours: 100+ [if slots available in subsequent cohort(s)]
