Librarians are responsible for the full range of collection development activities, including collection evaluation, identification of gaps, weeding of out‐ of‐date and outdated titles, and selecting new titles in all formats, including books, eBooks, media, and reference books in their assigned subject areas. Priority may be given to components of this work at a given time. Full‐time and adjunct faculty librarians are responsible for using sources such as Resources for College Libraries and Choice Reviews Online to find and recommend materials for purchase.
The Libraries invite purchase recommendations from students, faculty, and staff. Faculty are especially encouraged to make recommendations based upon their expertise in subject area. However, because librarians can best judge the balance of the total collection and have daily access to current review media, final decisions concerning acquisitions rest with them.
